Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB)
IRB Barcelona is an independent, non-profit research institution engaged in basic and applied biomedical science. The main missions of IRB Barcelona include a) to promote multidisciplinary research of excellence at the interface between structural biology, chemistry and biology, with the objective of having an impact on human health; b) to foster collaborations with national and international research institutes; c) to provide high-level training in biomedical sciences; d) to promote innovation and technology transfer in the field of biomedicine and; d) to actively engage in an open dialogue with the public. IRB Barcelona currently hosts 28 research groups organised in five programmes and supported by 6 core facilities, which are set up to handle high-throughput approaches and provide cutting-edge technologies. IRB Barcelona also has a joint research program in computational biology with the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC), which grants our investigators internal access to HPC facilities.
